Scott Bateman

I am a PhD student in Computer Science (Human-Computer Interaction) at the University of Saskatchewan.  I work in the Interaction Lab under the supervision of Dr. Carl Gutwin and in the ARIES Lab under the supervision of Dr. Gordon McCalla.

My dissertation research is looking at group interaction history, which are the accumulated traces that we create when we use any digital object (e.g read a webpage, or write an email). I am investigating how these traces can be combined and presented in new and useful ways that will allow people to discover and reflect on otherwise overlooked information.

This work is part of my larger interest I have in collaborative knowledge sharing technologies, and has meant I have been able to play in a lot of different areas of research - warning buzzword list follows ;) - such as social software, information visualization, e-learning, semantic web and intelligent interfaces.
